Wakefield, MA — July 25, 2017 – PICMG, a not-for-profit 501(c) consortium of companies and organizations that collaboratively develop open specifications, has announced a new 8-page overview brochure that provides a quick overview of the organization’s goals, achievements, specifications, and more. PICMG open standards are used in a wide range of high performance industrial, military/aerospace, telecommunications, test/measurement, medical, and general purpose embedded computing applications.
The PICMG brochure illustrates many of the successes of PICMG-based architectures that include COM Express, CompactPCI Serial, CompactPCI, AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, Hardware Platform Management, and PICMG 1.3 SHB. It also describes new concepts for Industrial IoT and in-process specifications such as CompactPCI Serial for Space. In addition, there is a chart on the target markets of the specifications, a “Why Join PICMG” section, a topic on Components, and more.
The PICMG brochure illustrates the difference between an open source definition and an open specification. As an open standards group, PICMG’s specifications allow our members and end-users to develop virtually limitless product configurations and features that are mechanically and electrically interoperable.
PICMG continues to advance new technologies and upgrades to existing specifications. Recent and upcoming efforts include 100G AdvancedTCA, 40G MicroTCA, Physics upgrades to AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA, Industrial IoT concepts, and much more.
