The DESY Rear Transition Module (RTM) 4-channel piezo driver (DRTM-PZT4) has been designed in order to control general purpose piezo actuators using high voltage and high current drive. Currently it is used in high energy physics for the synchronization and special diagnostics as well as the tuning of superconducting cavities (SC).
The piezo driver modules have been successfully installed and commissioned at the European X-ray Free Electron Laser (E-XFEL) facility especially for master laser oscillator (MLO) synchronization, Electro-optical bunch length diagnostics (EOD) or pump-probe experiments.
Additionally the RTM modules have been employed in active fiber link and beam line stabilization projects. The piezo driving electronics have also been introduced for CW experiments, particularly microphonics compensation. The piezo drivers are also part of the LLRF control system for the Turkish Accelerator and Radiation Laboratory in Ankara (TARLA) which is entirely based on MTCA.4 .
